What is Pickleball Round Robin Tournament?
Round robin is a tournament format where everyone teams up with everyone else once (or twice in some cases), and plays against other participants. It can be played in singles, doubles, mixed doubles (where each team is one male and one female), or fixed teams. The winner is determined by the total points earned.
Round robin format works well for small to medium size pickleball tournaments.
How Does It Work?
Schedule
Depending on the number participants, there will be different amount of rounds and games. Since every player is teamed up with everyone else once, with N players each one will play N-1 games. For example, if there’re are 8 players in total, each one plays 7 games.
Scores
You can choose between two different scoring systems:
- Win-Loss: e.g. 1 point for winning the match, 0 for losing
- Points per round: if the match ends in 11-7, the winner gets 11 points and loser — 7
Standings are based on the total points earned. The winner is determined based on the total points when all rounds are played.
